“Not ANOTHER Zombie Apocalypse!!”
The big changes here from Pencil to Ink were the shortening of the second leg section to make “Iron Maw” more dog-like, and instead of the black hair on Jirak Thoole, the writers at TPK wanted this character to have red fur- so I made a new fur texture to let the color be a bigger part of the figure as opposed to just more black. Overall this turned out to be a nice piece, and I think if you havent already, you need to support this on KICKSTARTER , so check out the fundraiser link and support my work, and TPK games!
Some Classic Pen and Ink RPG art for the Arch Villain; Druid Werewolf, JIRAK THOOL. This is one of the two main antagonists of the new TPK game module: “The Bleeding Hollow” , which you can support right now on KICKSTARTER. I tried some new inking effects on his magic powers (the clear zones around the hands) as well as a “burlap” texture for the torn robes, I also tried to make a very rough “fur” texture on the hairy areas as well, all of these inking elements really turned out well in my opinion. Again, I cannot thank my dog, Loki, enough for posing for the legs on this guy!
This is the final inked piece for TPK Games setting, “The Bleeding Hollow”- I used some contrasting textures to build the spaces out in 3D and I was really pleased with the folks hanging from the trees, as well as the line texture coming out from the 5 columns on the ground to the fresh grave in the middle, it was a modification on some prior line techniques I have used in the past.
Here is the final inks for the “Decimated Elven Party” piece for TPK games. I included my inked line phase I do after my pencils and before the elaborate shading process. Oddly, the most interesting element may be the tree in the foreground with the creature cut in half resting at the base of the roots, I liked how that turned out.
My 6 month journey to bring THUNDARR the BARBARIAN to life as a poster with multiple characters from the classic 80’s cartoon is complete- with some great digital editing from Kristen at JARU and some sweet retro lettering from the Prince Of All Lettering- David Paul- this thing looks like it jumped out from a dark and twisted future world… I present to you, my tribute to this classic from yesteryear!
The year, 1994. From out of space, comes a runaway planet, hurtling between the Earth and the moon, unleashing cosmic destruction. Man’s civilization is cast in ruin. Two thousand years later, Earth is reborn. A strange new world rises from the old. A world of savagery, super-science, and sorcery. But one man bursts his bonds to fight for justice. With his companions, Ookla the Mok and Princess Ariel, he pits his strength, his courage, and his fabulous Sunsword, against the forces of evil. He is Thundarr, the Barbarian!
Here is the inked “Villains” side of the Thundarr poster I have been working on for the last 6 months. Some great characters and ink work. I was really happy with some of my experimental textures to have so many over lapping characters look unique and stay separate while bunched up together. I really liked the lizard man’s scales and Gemini’s neck and head device.
