Thanks to David Paul and Gary T. Becks for bringing the promotional one sheet I did for “The Great Vermin” to life with some sweet coloring, and custom lettering.
Here is the final inked art- done in one week- and Andrew’s final poster/promo art with Actor Sam Eidson in it. The trailer and website for this movie are in my links section. If it gets made, I get a credit in a film, so look out Hollywood. This job turned out great, and has been a personal and professional catalyst for me as an artist- Thanks Andrew and Katie, I’ll never forget that you gave me a chance and believed in me!
Ken Brown and I made a website called www.bonethefish.com in 2009 to make up for the now gone www.jumptheshark.com website- this was the logo, and one of my first attempts to get back into making up creative unique illustrations- a solid logo, and you can even buy it on a tie, shirt, placemat etc. via the website merchandise section on BTF- check it out! Ken colored this and showered me with praise for getting back into the game- thanks for the encouragement and nice coloring Kenny!
Another unused poster (why was I not using these gems?) from the aborted 1994 radio show- featuring my main man- Steven “Buzz Martin” Smith- who was one of the coolest dudes I knew in my fraternity and college and general- really helped get me into the metal scene- and this could be the greatest drawing of him of all time- I also like my self portrait in this poster as well- great stuff- WSYC- suck it!!
One of my favorite artists of all time- Hajime Sorayama – inspired me to take on this mechanical bird with an airbrush and colored pencils. Another 1992 portfolio builder piece, but I still really enjoy this one. Never really delved back into this media again, but I still have my airbrush and related gear to this day.
A great piece from 1990- done in ink with colored markers- a high school project to creat an alternate alphabet- so I did monsters, and frankly, this is a good piece and holds up well years later. Funny aside to this- it was supposed to win a big award for something or other, and then the judges felt that the letter “J” was obscene- of course there was no intent on my part, but when older (read: perverted) people want to see things, you can’t stop them! I think that really added to the fun of the piece that it got people upset, to me all these years later, that’s worth more than some stupid prize- I might revisit this concept sometime if the mood strikes me.
